Digital UI/UX Projects
HealthBay
How might we improve waiting room experiences by streamlining patient inflow to reduce wait times?”
For this project we had to reinvent the waiting room experience. Medical/Health related waiting rooms are often the first impression people have when entering a facility and unfortunately for most it is not a pleasant experience. According to my group’s literary research and interviews, waiting rooms have often been found to be intimidating, anxiety inducing, and stressful. Because the waiting room is a shared space, people waiting often share in the suffering of those around them which affects the rest of their visit. Our group tried to eliminate the waiting room by creating an app (HealthBay) that would help eliminate the physical shared space of a sit down waiting room. Throughout the app, we also tried to use more personal language to guide the user through the option choices to help eliminate the anxiety often associated with clinical terminology. We also went for a cool colour scheme with a focus on introducing a plant based aesthetic because within our research we found that there have been lots of positive reactions to “forest therapy”. Forest Therapy being where places have introduced live plants and greenery to help visitors feel more peaceful.
Research & Interviews
The first step in our process included doing some secondary research of which was followed by some primary research (the interviews).
